1989 Sentra Cold Start and Stall + Cold Driving Loss of Acceleration
Greetings from Saint Louis. 1989 Nissan Sentra. The good news is it always starts Trouble began as being able to drive only a short distance when the engine was cold sometimes a block, sometimes a few miles before losing all ability to accelerate very scary. Strange thing: when I lose power the engine stays running. Shortly thereafter, when cold, it developed a rough idle. Things kept going downhill. Now when cold, a few seconds after starting it revs down and frequently goes to stall. After multiple starts I might get an unsteady idle where the engine revs down and up, down and up, again and again. If I dare to touch the gas pedal during this type of idle the car dies Immediately. But if I wait, once the engine warms up a bit, the idle smooths out. Then soon as it hits normal operating temperature, I can drive it. It does not drive well-it feels like the car is weighted down or the brakes are being gently applied. Anyone ever seen such a thing And thank you in advance
